Fat Albert was a long running cartoon series from FILMATION that was based upon the stand-up comedy routines of Bill Cosby. It was one of the first children's cartoons to combine entertainment with an educational message (explained for the youngest viewers at the end of each episode by Bill himself in a live action epilogue).
The comic books followed the same pattern, roughly, with Mr. Cosby as narrator to the life lessons learned by the neighborhood kids.
The lesson here is about responsibility, as Russell is about to find out....
