This is one of those obscure comics that most people haven't heard of. It's about a young working girl named "Kookie". Kookie lives with her roommate Clara, and works at "Momma Pappa's" coffee shop. Among the supporting cast are various beatniks and other starving artist types.
Although this comic is very well done, I'm not even slightly surprised that it never became popular. At the time this was released, the racks were full of these same types of humor comics. The real surprising thing is that the Archie gang managed to survive through this period of heavy competition.
Anyway, like I said, this is near the top of the heap as far as these types of comics go:
