"BILJO" WHITE - CAPTAIN EGO
William Joseph "Biljo" White was a prominent artist for such fanzines as Komix Illustrated, Comicollector, Roy Thomas' Alter Ego and Batmania, often in cooperation with Ronn Foss. While not drawing comix, Biljo White was a fireman in Columbia, Missouri.
Although slightly discouraged by the fact that he was turned down for work at both Marvel and DC, he continued on for years illustrating fanzines and self-published material, primarily because it was his passionate obsession.
I make no claim as to Mr. White being one of the greatest artist of all times; yet his work was filled with "Golden Age" sensibilities, and from my perspective, he deserves more recognition for his efforts.
Biljo died in 2003 at age 73.
WE SALUTE YOU BILJO WHITE, MAY YOU REST IN PEACE !!
