America's love affair with Patsy Walker lasted over twenty years. From her first appearance in 1944 until her last in 1967, she maintained at least a moderate degree of popularity (enough to carry three titles simultaneously at one point).
The earliest stories, like this, show the series fully realized from the start; no slapstick or forced gags, just simple homespun comedy with the accent on characterization.
This is her fourth appearance, from MISS AMERICA #5, February 1945, which is accredited to Ken Bald(?) and Dan Barry(?). But none of the resources I've consulted seems to be sure.
