Who doesn't love free comics?
Of course there's usually a catch to getting something for free. With comics it's usually because they're loaded with product placement advertising. Yet notice how very subtle the advertising is in this one. Why you might actually forget what they're pitching (yeah right).

We've looked at Nancy strips before, and before we're done, we'll look at lots more. With years and years of material, there's a lot to look at. Originally looked at with disdain amongst comic critics, it really didn't become accepted as a classic until after Bushmiller's death, sadly. Better late than never? Maybe.

All you young'ns that read comics on your computers and phones are missing out on the joys of reading an actual printed comic. Sure, there were a lot of flaws with newsprint and ben-day dots, not the least of which was purchasing a book and finding out that page 15 had horrible ink stains from a sloppy printer. Yet there's still a lot of things that digital can't do. No, the dragon from the above image is not in this story, it's just from the same issue. I just used it to illustrate a point. The artists who worked on the Dell/Gold Key/Whitman comics were amazing at being able to draw realistic scenes, yet horrible at depicting any believable monsters or aliens. Here's another tale of terror for y'all. Once again from the classic yet short-lived series from the now defunct Eclipse comic company. Not exactly sure why anthologies always have a shorter life-span than regular continuing series, but I guess that's the nature of the game; western readers seem to prefer much longer stories, I guess.

When you think of satire or parody, probly the last comic you'd think of would be the Punisher. Yet here we are with a comic that spoofs (homages?) the theatrical metal band GWAR. And it has all the violence that you'd expect from a GWAR concert and a Punisher comic put together.
This ain't high class literature, folks, but I thought it was a fun little short.

One of the most messed up thing about DC's "NEW 52" is the fact that All-Star Western is arguably the very best title that they're running now. Sad. They rebooted 51 other superhero comics just to prove that the western genre is not dead yet.

I actually like Archie comics for the most part, but with this one, I think they really lost their target audience. It's not a really bad story, but it seems like whoever wrote and drew it was totally out of touch with current fashion at the time.

Starting as an editorial cartoonist way, way back in 1976, 'Wiley' has been doing comics ever since. Non-Sequitur is actually his second syndicated feature (if anybody was counting). Without a whole lot of recurring characters at first, the current run usually features his little girl character 'Danae', who has an almost-as-morbid sense of humor as (Mark Tatulli's) LIO, but not quite.

It's easy for the casual reader to get the impression that the Patsy & Hedy dynamic is a simple case of good girl vs. bad girl, and I can't fault them for that. In most instances, Patsy is a goody two-shoes while Hedy is a rhymes-with-stitch. The best years of the series (the Morris Weiss period) gave them both more complex personalities.
